Aloha! My name is Adam T. Kahualaulani Mick. I grew up in Kailua on the island of O'ahu in Hawai'i. I am a son, brother, husband, father, surfer, musician, and friend.

When I first became vegetarian back in 1986, I did so out or concern for animals and for health reasons. I truly thought that I was being compassionate towards animals with my choice to not eat meat, and it wasn't until 2004 that I learned about the horrors and cruelty of the dairy and egg industries. After learning about these atrocities (that occur every second of every day in factory farms across our country and all over the world), I immediately became vegan, and have been morally vegan for over 20 years.

During all those years, I did little to try to persuade or convince other people to go vegan, nor did I talk about what I learned about the meat, dairy, and egg industries. I now realize that, by not speaking up for the animals all these years, I have been complicit in the cruelty that I know full well is happening. It's sort of like hearing a neighbor beating a child and then not speaking up or calling the police because you know that you don't beat your own child. My being vegan does prevent harm to a handful of animals—and I do feel very good about that—but my not speaking up allows harm to continue to millions of other animals. This website is part of my efforts to remedy that.

Thank you for your interest. Aloha...
